Save a modified material
After you create your own materials, you can save those textures as custom presets for reuse or for sharing with colleagues, clients, or customers. Saving a modified material as a custom preset includes all material layers shown in the Material section of the Appearance pane at the time of saving (including disabled material layers).
By default, custom preset materials are saved to the root level of the Materials category in the Library. If you want your custom preset materials grouped into a folder, you can manually organize them in the Library.
Save the currently selected material as a preset
-
In the Appearance pane of the Text Inspector, click the preview thumbnail in the Material section, then choose Save Material from the pop-up menu.
The Save Preset to Library dialog appears.
-
Type a descriptive name for the preset, then click Save.
The currently selected material is saved as a preset, in the Material category in the Library. You can apply the preset as you would any other material in the Library. See Apply a preset material.
Organize saved custom preset materials
-
In the Motion Library, select Materials in the left column.
The preset materials for that category appear in the stack area below.
-
Click the New Folder button (+) in the lower-left corner of the Library.
A new, untitled folder appears in the right column, above the stack.
Note: If you select a category of materials (Concrete or Fabric, for example) before you add the folder, the folder will be added within that category and will appear in the stack instead of in the category column.
Double-click the name of the untitled folder, then type a new name and press Return.
-
Drag the custom preset materials into the new folder.
The presets will now appear in the category you created, in both the Library and in the Material section of the Text Inspector’s Appearance pane (when the preview thumbnail is clicked).
